Market Overview

Filmmakers drive the industry because they are the ones who need the Providers in order to turn an idea into a movie. These conclusions are based on extensive market research carried out during 2007-9:

Filmmakers will prefer to work with people they already know
Providers who are already known to Filmmakers will most likely get repeat work
Filmmakers don't already know everyone they need to make their next film
This is where new Providers come in
Filmmakers are always pressed for time
This is where FilmEverything.com comes in

These goals will be achieved as follows:

1. Building the database

1. Building the database

You can help us with this: The more Filmmakers in the system the more attractive it will be to Providers and the more Providers we have in the system the greater the likelihood you will find exactly what you are looking for.

2. Usage

A key feature of FilmEverything.com is that it is NOT a networking site. It works as follows:

  1. When you log-in to your account you will see requests - "posts" - from Filmmakers in the Live feed on your Home page and, before you can respond, you must fill your profile with at least some basic information.
  2. You respond to each post simply by clicking either "I am interested" or "Dismiss"
  3. The Filmmaker will look at your profile and send you a message if you seem suitable
2. Usage

A key feature of FilmEverything.com is that it is NOT a networking site. It works as follows:

  1. You create a notice - a "post" - for the resource you're looking for which will appear in the Live feed for (and may also be e-mailed directly to) all Provider members that qualify
  2. Provider members who are interested click an "I am interested" link in the notice
  3. You review the responses and either contact the responder through the message system or simply dismiss them if they're not suitable

You benefit from this process as follows:

  1. Filmmakers effectively come to you so you don't waste time & money "doing the rounds"
  2. You set your own languages and categories so you can see all the posts or just certain types
  3. The "I am interested" response is automatically generated so there is no need to agonize about the correct wording - the initial responses from everyone are all the same
  4. Just log-in to the system as-needed to deal with posts & messages from Filmmakers: Apart from tweaking your profile it is not necessary to spend any more time on the system

FilmEverything.com is very time-effective - you don't need to spend much time on the system

You benefit from this process as follows:

  1. Writing a short post is far more time-efficient than going through countless profiles of people who are uninterested or unavailable
  2. Providers set their own filters so they'll only see your post if it applies to them
  3. Only current, active and interested Providers will respond to your posts so you won't waste time looking at out-of-date profiles or trying to contact people who are no longer present
  4. Provider profiles have a standardized layout & appearance so it's easy for you to quickly evaluate a responder's suitability

FilmEverything.com is very time-effective - you don't need to spend much time on the system

3. Effectiveness

The effectiveness of the system depends on two main factors:

  1. The accuracy of the Filmmakers' posts
  2. You being you

As a Provider, the accuracy of the Filmmakers' posts is outside of your control. But, if in doubt, choosing "I am interested" is generally harmless.

Don't be afraid of "not being good enough" to have a profile on the system - in many ways it's not your decision to make: One way or another, what you have to offer is probably exactly what one of our Filmmakers wants.

What you do have control over is the quality of your profile. It is most important that you create a good profile.

3. Effectiveness

The effectiveness of the system depends on two main factors:

  1. The accuracy of your posts
  2. The quality of the responders

As a Filmmaker, you only have control over the posts that you create. Posts that are too generalized may result in too many responses whereas posts that are only see by very few Provider members may result in no responses at all. The "Create a new post" form provides an indication of how many Providers will see your post and this number can be adjusted by altering the selection criteria.

We strongly recommend that you also create a Provider profile so you can see the system from a Provider's perspective.
